Course Description
The course is to give participants a general introduction on TCM. Main subjects include basic Theory of TCM, Brief Introduction of Chinese Herbs, Chinese Medicated Diet, Cosmetology of TCM, Reducing Weight by TCM, Tuina, Acu-pressure, Medical Qigong, etc.

About the University
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) founded in 1956, is one of the earliest established institutions of higher learning of TCM in China, and it is the only one that is incorporated into the “211 Project” among the universities and colleges of TCM, with a key role in higher education directly under the supervision of the Education Ministry of China. Foreign students have been trained in the university from 1957. In 2006, 1,381 foreign students studied in the university.

Teaching Method
Lectures in classroom, coaching in groups, clinical practice, lectures on a special topic and visits to hospitals will be undertaken so as to consolidate the acquired knowledge and technique.

Curriculum
Curriculums are designed to enable participants to have a good understanding of basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine after the study. Classes are divided into morning and afternoon two sections.

24 hours/week
After class, electives of Taiji, Qigong, Yangsheng Gong are available on campus and it is free to enroll.

Evaluation and Certificates
With a view to ensuring the teaching quality, appropriate examinations will be held at the end of the training course. Diplomas will be issued to the participants who pass the examination successful.

Pengyou (friends) Exchange Program
To have you fully exposed to the local environment, Allied Gateway will arrange you a Chinese Pengyou (friend) based on age and interest. Allied Gateway views this an important part of integrating participants into local life.

Extra Curriculum Activities
Allied Gateway organizes a variety of activities for program participants to enrich the China experiences. Activities include culture oriented electives, weekend sightseeing, cultural workshops, and social activities.

Travel Arrangements
Allied Gateway organizes trips out of Beijing every month. Participants can sign up for both yourself and your friends. Popular trip destinations include: Xi'an, Qingdao, Pingyao, Dalian, Inner Mongolia and Shanghai at discounted prices. Two-way transportation by train, accommodation at a 3-star hotel, food and all the admission cost and local transportation are included. One staff from Allied Gateway and an English speaking tour guide will accompany you through the trip.

In addition, Allied Gateway staff will help you with your own trip plan as well such as hotel arrangements and transportation booking when needed.

Accommodation
Allied Gateway selects accommodations carefully for security, convenience and comfort. Program Fee varies depending on the accommodation selected. Accommodation options include:
Campus Single
Live on campus at Foreign Students Dorm. All rooms furnished with bed, desk, chair, lamp, telephone, air-conditioner and private bathroom. Hot water available in the morning and evening.
Hotel
Live in a 3-star hotel conveniently located close to the university. Single occupancy or double shared standard room available. The hotel rooms are well furnished with bed, TV, telephone, fridge, private bathroom, desk, internet access and air-conditioner. Hotel facilities include laundry, gym and daily house-keeping.
Home stay
Stay with a Chinese family. You will have your private room fully furnished with air-conditioner, bed, desk, chair and closet. Shared facilities include bathroom, kitchen, TV and others. Breakfast and dinner included.

Airport Transfer
Allied Gateway provides airport pick-up service to Program Participants. Our staff will meet you at the arrival gate after you get your luggage and take you to your accommodation. You need to provide us with correct flight information – flight number / flight date / airport name 2 weeks before your program starts. Airport drop-off service is offered to participants at the end of the program. To make sure smooth transition, you will be provided with Allied Gateway contact number before you come to China in case of last minute changes.
