Allied Gateway Mandarin Immersion Program aims to be the most effective way to learn Chinese. Our mission is to enable program participants to communicate fluently in real-life situations in Chinese with solid Chinese knowledge after one year's training.

About the University
Jinan University, established in 1906, is a comprehensive university under the joint leadership of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Education Ministry.
Known as the Paramount Academy for Overseas Chinese, Jinan University has always dedicated herself to the education of Chinese language & culture, and pre-university for overseas students. As a result, the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University was founded in 1953 to offer programs of Chinese language & culture and pre-university to overseas students. She was conferred as the "National Base of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" by The Education Ministry, and "Overseas Chinese Education Base" by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. She is also one of the ten key institutions that facilitate Chinese teaching in neighboring countries under the guidance of The China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. She has become the biggest in scale and the greatest in strength for offering the programs of Chinese as a second or foreign language and overseas Chinese education in South China.
Features
Allied Gateway Mandarin Immersion Program consists of three parts: University Class Training, Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction and Extra Curriculum Activities. The University Class Training integrates all different skills of the language: phonetics, speaking, listening, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary. Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction is held every two weeks exclusively to Allied Gateway participants. Instructions occur in real life settings with one subject in each section. Subjects include eating, transportation, theatre, shopping, job hunting, seeing a doctor etc. Extra Curriculum Activities includes cultural workshops, weekend sightseeings and social activities.
The program allows you to immerse yourself in real life experiences that require you to utilize and develop your Mandarin communication skills through authentic daily practice and activities.

Curriculum
Classes are divided into 3 levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A placement test will be conducted after enrolment at the university.
Curriculums are designed to meet the needs of each proficiency level and the program length to ensure you progress rapidly and able to communicate in Chinese in a more effective and efficient manner.

Placement Test
Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced with 5 sub-levels under each level. An overall placement test including reading, writing, speaking and listening is carried out at the beginning of the program in order to place you in the most suitable environment. Pengyou (friends) Exchange Program
In order to grasp the second language you are learning, it's crucial to practice the language as much as you can. To create the language environment and encourage participants to involve locals in deeper interaction in Chinese, Allied Gateway will arrange a local Chinese friend based on age, sex and interests for participants. Not only it's one of the best ways to enhance your listening and speaking skills, but also an effective way to obtain the most updated and common-used language. In addition, it helps participants have a better understanding of the Chinese culture and society through the interaction.
Extra Curriculum Activities
Allied Gateway organizes a large variety of activities for program participants to improve your language competence and understanding of Chinese culture. Activities include language and culture oriented electives, weekend sightseeing, cultural workshops, and monthly excursions out of Guangzhou.

Travel Arrangements
Allied Gateway organizes trips out of Guangzhou every month. Participants can sign up for yourself and your friends. Popular trip destinations include: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Yangshuo, Phoenix Ancient City, Zhaoqing, Shaoguan and Shenzhen at discounted prices. Two-way transportation by train, accommodation at 3-star hotel, meals and all the admission costs to attractions and local transportation are included. A staff from Allied Gateway and an English speaking tour guide will accompany you through the tour.
In addition, Allied Gateway staff will help you with your own trip plan as well such as hotel arrangements and transportation booking when needed.

Evaluation and Certificates
Small quizzes will be carried out now and then to test the progress made by students. In the middle of the program, a middle exam will be conducted and a final one at the end of the program. Participants will receive official diplomas and certificates including transcripts at the end of the Program.
Accommodation
Allied Gateway offers a variety of accommodation options to Program Participants. All accommodations are selected carefully for security, convenience and comfort. Program Fee varies depending on the accommodation selected. Accommodation options include:
Campus Double II
Live on campus at foreign students dormitory . The room is furnished with TV, telephone, air-conditioner, bed, desk, lamp with private bathroom. Public laundry is on the 1st floor. Rooms are located on level 1.
Campus Double I
Live on campus at foreign students dormitory. All the rooms are furnished with TV, bed, telephone, desk, chair, lamp and air-conditioner with private bathroom. Public kitchen and laundry room on each floor. Rooms are located from level 5 to 8.
Campus Single
Live on campus at foreign students dormitory. All the rooms are furnished with TV, bed, telephone, desk, chair, lamp and air-conditioner with private bathroom. Public kitchen and laundry room on each floor. Rooms are located from level 2 to 4.
Western Apartment
1. Private Apartment
Located close to the university, the apartment complex is modern and friendly. Comprised of one bedroom, one living room with dinning area, kitchen and bathroom, the apartment offers you a spacious and western living environment. All the apartments are fully furnished with TV, DVD, sofa, tea table, telephone, dinning table and chairs, study desk, beds and wardrobes and air-conditioning. Broadband internet access is provided. The kitchen has a microwave, stove, refrigerator, hot water machine and basic cooking utensils.
2. Private 2-Bedroom Apartment
Same conditions as private apartment, what is different is that there are two bedrooms in the apartment. The extra room can be used as a study or guest room when you have friends or family member visit you.
Hotel
Conveniently located close to the university, the 3-star hotel offers you comfort and convenience at your expection. All the rooms are modern furnished with bed, lamp, desk, sofa, wardrobe and private bathroom with 24 hours hot water. Single occupany provided only.
Homestay
Live with a local family. You will have your own room, with closet, bed, airconditioner and desk. Public shared facilities include kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. Breakfast & dinner is included.
Homestay Exchange
In addition to the conditions provided the same as homestay, you are oblidged to exchange in English with the house owner for one hour per day.
Airport Transfer
Allied Gateway provides airport pick-up service to Program Participants. Our staff will meet you at the arrival gate after you get your luggage and take you to your accommodation. You need to provide us with correct flight information – flight number / flight date 2 weeks before your program starts. Airport drop-off service is offered to participants at the end of the program. To make sure smooth transition, you will be provided with Allied Gateway contact number before you come to China in case of last minute changes.
