It used to be an affiliate of the No.1 Department Store and many locals still remember it as the east wing of the No.1 Department Store. It sells middle-level and high-level goods, suitable for a wide range of customers, especially on the first floor, which offers numerous brands of cosmetics. Young people like the store because it isn’t filled with too many shoppers, and the clothes are fashionable.
On the 10th floor, there is an Antique Shop, which includes porcelains, wood carvings, embroidery and other Chinese-style stuff.

It’s the only store on Nanjing Road that sells goods just for children. Many cartoon brands are sold here, such as Winnie the Pooh. Dads and Moms spoilt for choice when looking for cute gifts for their babies. Sportswear, watches and bags for teenagers are also available.
B1 floor offers many game playing machines. You can play some games and win cards which you can exchange for a gift. It works out as more expensive than buying the gift, but it’s good fun!

This store has a long history, traced back to 1918, when the company was established.
It used to be named as Hualian Department Store, but in middle 2005, its name was changed to YongAn.
Shanghainese are very familiar with the store. On Nanjing Road, it is like a symbol rather than a shopping place. It is not so suitable for young people.
