Program Description
Study Chinese and experience the unique Chinese culture during Summer holiday. Learn Chinese at the Fudan University and practice the language on a daily basis in authentic real life environment. Plus the Real Life Instruction held once a week developed by Allied Gateway is specially designed to enhance your spoken language ability. Transcripts and certificate available. Weekend trips, electives and cultural workshops are offered free to participants. Electives include Chinese painting, Taiji Boxing, Chinese Knot and calligraphy.

* Classes will be offered on some of the weekends to make sure a full 4-week school days.
* The 8-week course is combined with 2 of 4-week courses. There is a one-day break between the 2 sessions. You will start a new placement test for the 2nd session and be moved to a higher level if your Chinese improves quickly.

About the University
Fudan University was established in 1905, initially named Fudan Public School. Its name "Fudan" was taken from a famous line in the Confucian Classic, the Book of History: "Brilliant are the sunshine and moonlight, again the morning glory after a night".

Now, Fudan University enrolls over 45,000, including full-time students and students in Continuing Education and Online Education. Also, there're as many as 2,400 students from overseas, only next to Beijing Language and Culture University.

Features
Allied Gateway Mandarin Immersion Program consists of three parts: University Class Training, Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction and Extra Curriculum Activities. The University Class Training integrates all different skills of the language: phonetics, speaking, listening, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary. Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction is held every two weeks exclusively to Allied Gateway participants. Instructions occur in real life settings with one subject in each section. Subjects include eating, transportation, theatre, shopping, job-hunting, seeing a doctor etc. Extra Curriculum Activities include cultural workshops, weekend sightseeing, electives and social activities.

Curriculum
Classes are divided into 3 basic levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A placement test will be conducted after enrolment at the university.

Curriculum are designed to meet the needs of each proficiency level and the program length to ensure you progress rapidly and able to communicate in Chinese in a more effective and efficient manner.

Placement Test
Classes are divided into 10 levels so that you will be placed in the right level that suits you the most. An overall placement test including reading, writing, speaking and listening is carried out at the beginning of the program.

Pengyou (friends) Exchange Program
In order to grasp the second language you are learning, it's crucial to practice the language as much as you can. To create the language environment and encourage participants to involve deeper interaction with locals in Chinese, Allied Gateway will arrange a local Chinese friend for participants based on age, sex and interests. Not only it’s one of the best ways to enhance your listening and speaking skills, but also an effective way to obtain the most updated and common-used language. In addition, it helps participants have a better understanding of the Chinese culture and society through the interaction.

Evaluation and Certificates
Small quizzes will be carried out now and then to test the progress made by students. At the end of the Program, a test will be conducted. Participants will receive official diplomas and certificates including transcripts at the end of the Program.

Accommodation
Campus Standard (Double/Single)
All the rooms are furnished with TV, bed, telephone, desk, chair, lamp, private bathroom and air-conditioning. There are communal kitchen and laundry room on each floor. Single and shared occupancy provided. Internet connection is provided.
Homestay
Live with a local family. You will have your own room, with closet, bed, airconditioner and desk. Public shared facilities include kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. Breakfast & dinner is included.
Homestay Exchange
In addition to the conditions provided the same as homestay, you are oblidged to exchange in English with the house owner for one hour per day.

Airport Transfer
Allied Gateway provides airport pick-up service for program participants. Our staff will meet you at the arrival gate after you get your luggage and take you to your accommodation. You need to provide us with correct flight information – flight number / flight date / airport name 2 weeks before your program starts. Airport drop-off service is offered to participants at the end of the program. To make sure smooth transition, you will be provided with Allied Gateway contact number before you come to China in case of last minute changes.
