Program Description
5 weeks Chinese study at the Jiaotong University followed by one week of
3 hours/day private one to one tutoring during Summer holiday. Systematic Chinese language training at the university integrating different skills of the language. Participants can choose teaching materials and contents based on his own needs during private tutoring. Private tutors are professors from Jiaotong University who have Certificate of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language to foreigners. The program length is 6 weeks. Transcripts and certificate available.

Features
Allied Gateway Mandarin Immersion Study-Tutoring Combination Program consists of two parts: Language Training and Private Tutoring. Language Training covers University Class Training at Jiaotong University and Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction. The University Class Training integrates all different skills of the language: phonetics, speaking, listening, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary. Allied Gateway Real Life Instruction is held once a week exclusively to Allied Gateway Participants. Instructions occur in real life settings with one subject in each section. Subjects include eating, transportation, theatre, shopping, job hunting, seeing a doctor etc.

Private tutoring will take place in the last week of the Program. After the intensive and more targeted training, your Chinese will progress rapidly. You can choose teaching materials and contents as you like.

Curriculum
Classes are divided into 3 basic levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A placement test will be conducted after enrolment at the university.

Curriculums are designed to meet the needs of each proficiency level and the program length to ensure you progress rapidly and able to communicate in Chinese in a more effective and efficient manner.

Main Courses
Beginner: Phonetic training, frequently-used vocabulary and sentence patterns, and the most essential and frequently-used communication skills in daily communication activities.

Intermediate: Essential Chinese Grammar, Vocabulary, Special Sentence Patterns used in oral expression, Oral Chinese in relatively-complicated environments and settings

Advanced: Advanced Chinese, Audio-visual Chinese and Chinese Speaking, Advanced Chinese Extensive Reading, Advanced Spoken Chinese, Chinese Movies

Placement Test
Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced three levels. An overall placement test including reading, writing, speaking and listening is carried out at the beginning of the program in order to place you in the most suitable environment. Beginners don’t need to take the test.

Pengyou (friends) Exchange Program
In order to grasp the second language you are learning, it's crucial to practice the language as much as you can. To create the language environment and encourage participants to involve locals in deeper interaction in Chinese, Allied Gateway will arrange a local Chinese friend for participants based on age, sex and interests. Not only it’s one of the best ways to enhance your listening and speaking skills, but also an effective way to obtain the most updated and common-used language. In addition, it helps participants have a better understanding of the Chinese culture and society through the interaction.

Evaluation and Certificates
Small quizzes will be carried out now and then to test the progress made by students. At the end of the Program, a test will be conducted. Participants will receive official diplomas and certificates including transcripts at the end of the Program.

Accommodation
All accommodations are selected carefully for security, convenience and comfort. Program Fee varies depending on the accommodation selected.
Budget (Single/Double)
All the rooms are furnished with TV, bed, telephone, desk, chair, lamp and air-conditioning. A public bathroom is shared on the hall on each floor. Communal kitchen and laundry room are available.

Homestay
Live with a local family. You will have your own room, with closet, bed, airconditioner and desk. Public shared facilities include kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. Breakfast & dinner is included.
Homestay Exchange
In addition to the conditions provided the same as homestay, you are oblidged to exchange in English with the house owner for one hour per day.

Airport Transfer
Allied Gateway provides airport pick-up service to Program Participants. Our staff will meet you at the arrival gate after you get your luggage and take you to your accommodation. You need to provide us with correct flight information – flight number / flight date / airport name 2 weeks before your program starts. Airport drop-off service is offered to participants at the end of the program. To make sure smooth transition, you will be provided with Allied Gateway contact number before you come to China in case of last minute changes.
