Mandarin Immersion Academic Program
 

Mission
The Mandarin Immersion Program aims to be the most effective way to learn Chinese. Our mission is to enable program participants to communicate fluently in real life situations in Chinese with solid Chinese knowledge after one year's  training.

Features
The Mandarin Immersion Program consists of two parts: Class Training and the Real Life Instruction. The Class Training integrates all different skills of the language: phonetics, speaking, listening, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary. The Real Life Instruction is held every two weeks exclusively to our participants. Instructions occur in real life settings with one subject in each section. Subjects include eating, transportation, theatre, shopping, job hunting, seeing a doctor etc.

The program allows you to immerse yourself in real life experiences that require you to utilize and develop your Mandarin communication skills through authentic daily practice and activities.

Curriculum
Classes are divided into 3 basic levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A placement test will be conducted after enrolment.

Curriculum are designed to meet the needs of each proficiency level and the program length to ensure you progress rapidly and able to communicate in Chinese in a more effective and efficient manner.

Advanced Chinese, Audio-visual Chinese and Chinese Speaking, Advanced Chinese Extensive Reading, Advanced Spoken Chinese, Reading from Chinese Press, Survey of Literature, Applied Writing, An Introduction to Chinese Culture, Modern Chinese Vocabulary, Modern Chinese Grammar, Modern Chinese Phonetics, Business Chinese, Chinese Customs.
Electives
Chinese History, Chinese Calligraphy, Traditional Chinese Painting, Taijiquan (shadow boxing) and Chinese Wushu.

  • grasp 5,253 words and 2,205 Chinese characters
  • having quite good listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities equivalent to Chinese high school graduate

Advanced

 

  • Enhancing students’ overall Chinese language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing)
  • helping students contact to and understanding further and wider of Chinese culture and society.
  • grasp more than 7,000 words and 2,550 Chinese characters
  • Able to comprehend Chinese broadcasting and TV programs as well as newspapers
  • Equivalent to HSK Intermediate A Level or above.

Placement Test
Classes are divided into 3 basis levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.  An overall placement test including reading, writing, speaking and listening is carried out at the beginning of the program in order to place you in the most suitable environment. Beginners don't need to take the test.

Airport Transfer
With flight details, we can provide free airport arrival-pick-up service to program participant.

Accommodation
Accommodation is optional at extra cost.

Standard campus dorms for single and double occupation are available on first come first served basis. All rooms are fully furnished with airconditioner, TV, telephone, bed, desk, book shelf and private bathroom with 24 hours hot water. Public kitchen and washing machine are provided at each level.

Accommodation checks in one day before program start-date, checks out the next day to program finish-date.
